Just earlier in the week, Samsung took upon itself to file yet another lawsuit against JOLED – which is a Japanese display maker, in the US. Indeed Samsung has alleged that JOLED has violated and has infringed upon the Korean manufacturer’s patented technology.
In accordance with what a report from TheElec had to say, the US subsidiary of Samsung Display which happens to be known as Intellectual Keystone Technology (IKT) has indeed filed yet another lawsuit against JOLED as well as ASUS in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. For those of you unaware : IKT was actually founded by the South Korean display maker all the way back in 2013 and it goes on to provide patents which are in relation to organic light emitting diode (OLED) panels, lamps, encapsulations, and more, which of course also includes liquid crystal display (LCD) panels.

In accordance with what the lawsuit states, IKT actually claimed that the OLED panels manufactured by JOLED and supplied to Asus violated three of its own patents. These patents happen to have been related to electronic device and manufacturing method for the sake of the wiring board as well as electrical optical devices, emission device, and yet another one which happens to be within the emission device category. Previously, Samsung Display actually took upon itself to file a lawsuit back on the 8th of this month in the very same court – this being in relation to the violation of patents with respect to its TFT array board and OLED devices.
Most notably of course, the lawsuits also make their way as retaliation with regards to JOLED’s patent lawsuits that are of course against both Samsung Electronics as well as Samsung Display. Back then though, it was JOLED which made the claim that Samsung Display actually violated six of its patents which were subject to being used in more than 40 smartphone models, including the likes of the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Fold and many more.
