Samsung reconsiders the company’s fake supreme Collaboration in China

There was a certain amount of controversy at the Chinese launch event with regards to Samsung’s latest phone, the Samsung Galaxy A8s, as the Korean manufacturer made an announcement that it would be partnering up with the fashion brand Supreme for some kind of tech x street wear collaboration – exactly what kind wasn’t actually specified. However, the catch to this deal was that the partnership did not have the involvement of the authentic New York Supreme label, and in return, it had Supreme Italia. Supreme Italia is a ‘legal fake’ in Italy, which goes on to function on a legal basis through a bunch of intellectual property loopholes.

Soall in all, while Supreme NYC does not actually have the authority to sell andmarket in China, a country where Samsung has the biggest consumer base, SupremeItalia does! And while previously it was thought that the Korean manufacturerwas only considering collaboration in the Chinese market, it seems now that thecompany is reconsidering its plans in the wake of the backlash that it saw fromthe disappointed Samsung fans and Supreme lovers based New York city.

While Samsung’s digital marketing manager, Leo Lau had made great efforts in initially defending the company’s stance over the partnership, the criticism has led to the Korean company to officially announce that it is “re-evaluating” its position over the deal. The statement made was :

“Recently, Samsung Electronics announced at the launch of the Galaxy A8s that it will cooperate with Supreme Italia in the Chinese market. We are currently re-evaluating this cooperation, and we deeply regret the inconvenience caused.”

While it isn’t actually clear as to what Samsung’s next move will be, this probably will teach other brands a lesson over what they want out of future promotions.
