Saudi Arabia first fashion allows no cameras and men

Saudi Arabia first fashion allows no cameras and men. A new era for the Arabian world of fashion is going to start with the announcement made for a ceremony that will held after several delays.

Yes, you are getting it right, the first Arab fashion week is now due to start in the Capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. But don’t forger that Saudi Arabia will not be out of its traditional, cultural and religious  limits.

Though European fashion houses including Roberto Cavalli and Jean Paul Gaultier will be featuring the fashion week alongside local designers, cameras will not be allowed at the event.

Men are not allowed to attend the Catwalk shows in Saudi Arabia.

Photography is also banned at the event because the models will not be wearing traditional abayas.

However, models and make up artist are quite surprised with the news of happening this event in the country, because it was not thought to ever happen in a state that is known to be deeply a conservative Muslim kingdom.

Allowing fashion week in Saudi Arabia is a proof that the authorities do not want the Arabian people leaving behind in the race of advancements in the field of fashion, but ban on cameras with men not allowed at the event is also a solid proof of Arabian world with its religion.

Aiming at the improvement of the country’s global image alongside attracting foreign investors in the country, Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman, who is the kingdom’s de-facto leader is spearheading a number of social & economic reforms.

County director for Saudi Arabia at the Arab Fashion Council, Layla Issa Abuzaid, (while the announcement for the event was being made ) said,

“The first Arab Fashion Week in Riyadh will be more than a world-class event,”.

Layla Issa Abuzaid also added that it is a catalyst through which we do believe the fashion sector will be leading other economic sectors such as tourism, hospitality, travel & trade.

Why the event is the cause of surprise is that the event has been postponed twice, with organisers citing delays in issuing visas & problems with the venue.
