He became famous on Saturday evening when he rescued the boy who’s mother was not in Paris. Social media took Gassama to a fame that he really deserve.

Mr Gassama claims to be walking past when he saw a crowd gathered in front of the building and he had no time to think, so he ran across the road to go and save the little child.

He told the president, “I just climbed up and thank God, God helped me. The more I climbed the more I had the courage to climb up higher, that’s it,”.

The boy was crying when Gassama hauled him to safety and had also suffered an injured foot.

The boy was rescued before the firefighters arrived.

Boy’s father has been questioned by police on suspicion of leaving his child unattended, judicial sources report.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo referred Gassama as the “Spiderman of the 18th” and praised his heroism and called him to thank him for setting an “example for all citizens”.
