Smart TV to be released by Honor this April

OnePlus had announced last year that the Chinese company was set to enter the smart TV business, and the launch for its first ever TV is scheduled in 2019, or perhaps in 2020; needless to say, it’s not confirmed. And while OnePlus is looking to broaden its horizons, it doesn’t seem that it is the only company looking to do so – as a new report has revealed that Huawei, as well as its sub-brand Honor will both launch smart TVs this year.

The source revealing this news also went on to reveal that Honor will launch its very first smart TV in April, while Huawei will be looking forward for a launch in the second half of this year. While it is expected that Honor-branded TVs will be cheap, the same can’t be said about Huawei, as the company will launch premium and high end TVs – obviously, coming with expensive price tags.

The report has also stated that Huawei already has a team of around 200-300 people working under its TV division, which happens to come under the company’s Internet of Things Department. However, Huawei has other plans too – the company is looking set to create demand for 5G communication. The Chinese brand believes that the popularity of both the 4K and the 8K TVs will go on to increase the demand for both 4K as well as 8K content – and what better way would this content be displayed than via a reliable and fast internet connection – something which we know 5G can and will provide.

It has also been mentioned by a few that Huawei brand is looking to create an ecosystem of products which would happen to be connected to one another. With TVs being amongst the largest – of not the largest electronic device in households, they will indeed be expected to be the main hub that will go on to unite all of the other smart home devices.
