The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is Qualcomm’s new top-of-the-line Application Processor (AP). The chip will be inside consumer devices by the end of the year. However now, the company has unveiled the Snapdragon AR2 Gen 1 Platform designed to deliver augmented reality (AR) for smart glasses and other head-worn gear.
Extended Reality (XR) is Qualcomm’s new chip. This new chipset will enable sleek, highly capable glasses to deliver groundbreaking AR technology. New chipsets have smaller processors. AR performance is also improved 2.5 times. It uses half the power as well.
Coprocessors will handle important tasks, such as eye tracking. With iris authentication, it verifies identity and displays specific images only when the user looks at specific parts of the display. Energy savings are possible.
A 4nm process node will be used for Snapdragon AR2. Lenovo, LG, NREA, OPPO, Pico, QONOQ, Rokid, Sharp, TCL, Vuzix, and Xiaomi join the list of manufacturers interested in the platform.
