Possessing the tactile system for visually impaired individuals in the digital world is quite hard in this day and age. Braille compatible devices are super expensive and can display only a very limited type of content. To our surprise, the system has not seen much development over the years which is why there is still no solid solution for the visually impaired even today.

However, recent developments in that product market may result in a change in a change very soon. Chinese display manufacturer, BOE has recently patented a new braille solution which is unlike any other solution we have seen thus far. The major distinguishing factor for this product is that it does not display limited content and is not slow either.

As per the patent which was spotted by IT Home, the system will have a much larger function area and shall be made up of two components. The main component will be the display itself which is going to be used along with a much smaller device which can be attached on your finger.

This smaller device is a tactile device which is able to display the image to the user with the aid of an haptic feedback which will feel like braille. In contrast, both the touch screen and the tactile device will feature a sensor which will transmit the information in form of haptic feedback, which will in return allows the user to “feel” what is displays on the screen. According to the patent, this system will make it possible for the visually impaired to not be limited to only interacting with texts but also shapes and images in general.

The best part is, this system can be built into any sort of touch display. It can even be incorporated into laptops and smartphones. If this system reaches the mass production phase, it will revolutionize how the visually impaired interact with digital devices.
