State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmed is currently receiving a monthly salary of Rs. 4 million, a significant increase of 60 percent compared to his predecessor, Dr. Reza Baqir, who earned Rs. 2.5 million per month. This difference in salary was highlighted in a recent briefing to the National Assembly, where it was disclosed that Governor Ahmed’s monthly earnings exceed those of the previous governor by Rs. 1.5 million.

State Bank of Pakistan Governor’s Compensation Package Significantly Increased

In addition to his substantial salary, Jameel Ahmed’s compensation package includes several perks. These benefits encompass a rental allowance, maintenance and furnishing of his residence, and two vehicles with an allowance of 600 liters of petrol per vehicle each month. Furthermore, the governor has the option to hire up to four house workers, each with a monthly salary of Rs. 18,000.

Additional perks provided by the central bank cover utility bills, entertainment costs, and mobile phone expenses. The package also includes 75 percent coverage of his children’s education, full medical benefits, airline tickets, club memberships, and security expenses. These extensive benefits mark a notable enhancement compared to the package provided to his predecessor, Dr. Reza Baqir.
