So Pakistanis have always been a sense of pride for their respective nation, by constantly coming up with new inventions, winning awards at famous award shows such as the Oscars or for setting a mark in the film industry. Pakistanis truly have a knack for doing great things and we prove to the world again and again that Pakistanis are proud, intelligent and talented people. Student from Karachi University creates a Shopping bag that is edible.
With that in mind, we would like to tell you that a student from Karachi University has created environment-friendly plastic from a marine plant and the best thing about this plastic is that it can be eaten hence cancelling out the possibility of you throwing it away and attributing it to potential wastage. You can mix it with water or any other fluid and consume it without any harmful effects.
As per the supervisor of the student’s work, the plastic can be used for making shopping bags. When it comes to its commercial aspects, the only drawback it has is that it cannot hold high-temperature liquids such as tea, because it dissolves in hot solutions, however, one should bear in mind that not many people use the current shopping bags to take hot fluids from one place to the other so in terms of efficiency the new bag seems to deliver. However, cold liquids like milk can be carried in these bags for short periods of time.
The student and her supervisor revealed their discovery in a morning show on Samaa TV. The host can be seen mixing the plastic in the water and then drinking it to show that it actually comes without any side effects and can solve the pollution problem that our country is facing from excessive use of non-biodegradable plastic. The said pollution problem is not only the problem of Pakistan but also that of the world, and if this product can be managed at a higher level then the world can benefit from this new innovation and in terms of a global change we might still be able to control the effects of climate change. All in all this does seem to be revolutionary step and let’s hope that the government can support this idea on a higher level.
