Thailand Stuns Pakistan in Women’s T20 Asia Cup

Pakistan did not defend an 117-run goal against a low-ranked Thailand in the women’s Asia Cup 2022 match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh this is the country’s first defeat during the event.

The Green Shirts batted first after winning the toss in their 3rd match of the tournament. They posted the total of 116 runs in the score thanks to a slow half-century by the first batter, Sidra Ameen.

Sidra She scored 56 from 64 ball, which included six boundaries, scored 25 runs when she was partnered with her opener partner Muneeba Ali who scored 15 off 14 balls, whereas other players in the batting line-up were unable to stay at the wicket for very long.

Thai spinner Sornnarin Tippoch was a superb bowler who performed efficiently for the team with two wickets, and allowing only 20 runs in just four overs. Thipatcha Putthawong nabbed one wicket, and scored 21 runs in just four overs.

Nannapat Koncharoenkai, along with Natthakan Chantam started brilliantly for Thailand and put up a 40 runs together within the first eight overs, however Tuba Hassan‘s quick wickets put them in a slump to a crawl in middle.

Chantam’s match-winning volley of 61 runs in 51 balls, and Naruemol Chaiwai’s score of 17 from 23 balls, Thailand was capable of chasing down the score in the final over, with one ball left. Chantam was named the Player of the Match.
