His 24-year-long career ended on a high note as he bid farewell to the cricket world after umpiring in his last match. He was in charge of the one-off Test between Bangladesh and Ireland, and Bangladesh won by seven wickets. It was at the end of the match that players and officials aligned together to pay tribute to Aleem Dar as he stepped off the field. During his 19 year tenure as a member of the International Cricket Council’s Elite Panel of Umpires, Dar’s significant contribution to cricket has seen him officiate an unprecedented number of Tests and One Day Internationals as no other umpire has before. In his impressive career, he has officiated 436 international matches, including four World Cup finals, and has left an indelible mark on the sport, both personally and professionally.
