Huawei goes on to make use of its Mate branding for the flagship devices that the company goes on to launch in the second half of every year – this including its laptops, tablets and even its foldables. Back in May of this year, the company proceeded on to file trademarks for “Mate Watch” and also for the “Mate Pod.” The very next month in June, a smartwatch with the very same branding was touted to make its debut along with the Mate 40 series. And now, the Chinese manufacturer has went on to trademark the Mate branding for eight more product categories.
While for now the company’s future is very uncertain due to all the political complications that are ensued within, it still continues to launch new products as well as file patents and trademarks. Also, the brand has indeed been seeing a growth in its ecosystem and is even in the process of developing its very own operating system in the HarmonyOS.

And so with all the activities that the company has placed itself in, it is not at all surprising to learn that it is indeed filing the Mate branding for eight products categories.
Usually, it has been the case where Huawei used its Mate branding only for its rather premium devices. However, if the trademarks are of any indication : the company might in fact use it for all of its future products. In more simpler terms, Mate could become to Huawei what Galaxy is to Samsung. On the other hand though, it could also be the case that these are just trademarks that companies usually file from time to time and not all of them are used for a final product : much like design patents. Hence, it is quite possible that we may not see the use of such at all in the future.
