The Xiaomi 13 series was launched in China yesterday, and at the launch event, Xiaomi unveiled MIUI 14. A number of new features have been added to the company’s mobile software in the latest version. Among these is Xiao AI 6.0, which is one of the latest versions.
For those who are unaware, Xiaomi’s virtual assistant Xiao AI is one of the company’s products. The firm’s virtual assistant, MIUI, now has some new features and improvements as part of the latest version of the software. Here are a few of them that you might find interesting.
Due to the lack of Google’s presence in the country, smartphone brands in the country often rely on self-developed artificial intelligence assistants developed by them.
The newly introduced MIUI 14 brings Xiao AI 6.0. The latest version of the AI software now works locally on smartphones and tablets.
Xiao AI 6.0 offers the following six core functions.
- Xiao AI Suggestions
- Xiao AI Voice
- Xiao AI Vision
- Xiao AI Translator
- Xiao AI Call
A number of Siri’s suggestions as well as Google Assistant’s suggestions are similar to Xiao AI Suggestions. Accordingly, the function suggests users throughout the day based on their usage scenarios throughout the day.
There is a wide range of things that Xiao AI can suggest to the user, such as reminders, home automation controls, travel-related actions, menstrual cycle status, and so on.
As the name implies, Xiao AI Voice serves as the standard voice control function for Xiao products. Meanwhile, Xiao AI Vision is an alternative to Google Lens, whereas Xiao AI Translator can be used as an alternative to Google Translate.
Lastly, Xiao AI Call is Xiaomi’s answer to Google’s Pixel Call Assistant, which is Google’s version of a voice assistant. First introduced in 2019, it was a year after Google debuted the original version of the app back in 2018.
In addition, Xiao AI Call supports call screening, real-time translation, and multiple dialects of Chinese.
I am sorry to inform you that the Xiao AI 6.0 update will not be available in global markets with the MIUI 14 update. There are smartphones and tablets sold by Xiaomi outside of mainland China that use Google Assistant as their voice assistant. There are even some devices that come equipped with Amazon Alexa as an option.
I would nevertheless like to point out that almost all the features of Xiao AI are available outside China via the services provided by Google, so it is well worth noting. Xiao AI Call, a feature set available only on Google Pixel phones, is the one thing that is missing from the list of features.
