Today, Motorola went on to reveal its latest device : the Motorola Moto Z4. The design of the device is proof that Motorola is indeed standing by its unique selection of Moto Mods, however, considering the specs of the device, it’seasy to see that the company  isn’t looking to push flagship devices into the Z line anymore.

While last year’s model – the Motorola Z3 came with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, a rather powerful processor – this year’s story is different, as this year’s phone comes with a downgraded Snapdragon 675. However, it does ship with the same amount of RAM as the Moto Z3, though it does on to offer a single camera lens – while last year’s model came with a dual-lens rear camera.

Granted that the Moto Z4 will not be able to compete against the flagship phones of 2019 like the Galaxy S10 or indeed the OnePlus 7 Pro, the phone does have nominal upgrades over its predecessor. Not only does last year’s successor have a larger battery, but it also comes with more internal storage a larger screen-to-body ratio. And of course, who can overlook the addition of an In-display fingerprint scanner.

It will also be capable of 5G, since it will have the support for the 5G Moto Mod – which currently happens to be exclusive to the Motorola Moto Z3 and will also feature soon with the Moto Z2 Force.

While there are some upgrades to last year’s model, owners of the Moto Z3 are likely to be put off by the smaller amount of RAM and the shift to rear camera lens. Though the device might be an attractive option if they happen to be looking for a decent budget device.

The device will cost $500. Hence it can be seen as a budget device only when compared to the prices that flagship phones command. And when taking into consideration forking out $500, the buyers will also have the option to buy the Pixel 3a or even the OnePlus 6T. Both these devices offer better specs, and more features. Will that affect the sales of Motorola’s latest device? Only time will tell.
