The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Gujarat unit’s tweet of a cartoon featuring a collection of Muslim men hanging was pulled down by Twitter on Sunday after it was found to violate the guidelines of the guidelines community.
The caricature of a sexist nature was posted on Friday, in the wake of the court decision which sentenced 38 individuals for execution during the Ahmedabad explosions in the city of Ahmedabad. The defendants were accused of being members of the group Indian Mujahideen.
The background showed the tri-coloured flag of India and a representation from Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad blast.
Its BJP Gujarat unit tweeted the photo with the caption: “Satyamev Jayate [Truth alone prevailsand triumphs. There is no mercy for the perpetrators of terror.”
Although the tweet was removed from the microblogging site due to it not complying with the guidelines on images that are offensive, some posts with the cartoon were posted via Facebook and Instagram on Monday and haven’t been deleted.
Numerous users on social media have criticized the image, but Facebook declared that the image did not breach the community’s standards.
BJP inciting violence
Twitter users were adamant about the negative image of Muslims and criticized the government BJP for encouraging violence to win votes for the upcoming elections.
They also stated that the nationalist party would be responsible for the violence in communal areas and hate-mongering, which could lead to the massacre of minorities.
Another user wrotethat “this is a shocking incident” and called on the international community to condemn the act.

In the statement issued by Gujarat BJP’s media coordinator Yagnesh Dave claimed the caricature was designed to reflect the story’s coverage in media outlets and newspapers. The statement further stated that this cartoon wasn’t designed to “target any particular group of people” however it was inspired by the photos of the accused convicts.

In response to BJP, India’s Congress spokesperson for the party Manish Doshi stated: “No party should engage in a political debate over court rulings in delicate cases. The BJP wants to create a divide who are polled-bound Uttar Pradesh.”
He said “terrorism does not have a religious basis” because Congress could lose two former premier officials to it.
The heightened Islamophobia depicted in India occurred just days following the introduction of a number of laws on religion which were promoted by India’s dominant Hindu nationalism party within the State of Karnataka were passed, which included an outlawing of the wearing of hijabs at school.
The laws raise the possibility that these controversial measures could create tensions among sects in India’s northern region. The changes are now a source of contention with the country’s Muslim minority.
Opposition parties as well as many political experts accuse the BJP of provoking the tension in Karnataka to increase its appeal to the majority of Hindus like it is doing elsewhere in the country.
