Two years ago back in 2019, Xiaomi took upon itself to announce a concept smartphone going by the name of Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha with a surround display. The company claimed that it will go on sale in rather limited quantities but this never happened. Also, the company did not actually unveil its successor even a year later. However, the Chinese manufacturer did end up patenting a fee smartphone designs making their way with a rather similar form factor. And now, again, two such designs have actually emerged after one with  pop-up cameras was subject to being exposed just a few days back.

In accordance with what the latest reports have had to say, Xiaomi mobile software actually filed a patent with CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) at the end of 2019. The documentation for the same was subject to being published on the 1st of January, 2021. It proceeded on to expose two surround display smartphone designs with their being some minor differences along the way.

Taking into consideration the first design, the phone’s display actually goes on to wrap around from the top to bottom, instead of the side to side as found on the Mi Mix Alpha. But there happen to be two separate screens on either side. Moreover, the device also features with a horizontal frame which is placed on the back and which houses a quad-camera setup, dual-LED flash and also what appears to be a microphone.

The main highlight of this design is that this particular smartphone actually happens to be slimmer than the Mix Alpha and even happens to be elliptical in shape. On the other hand, the second design actually makes way with a rounded shape. Also, this one goes on to include a triple camera setup and there happens to be no LED flash or microphone.
