The Additional District and Sessions Court found the women guilty of using fake notes on the bus service. They have been directed to be transferred to the custody of the probation officer. Each woman has been sentenced to one year in prison, but they will be released upon providing a surety of Rs 10,000 each.

The court expressed hope that the women would reform and refrain from such activities in the future. The court also ordered that the six fake 1000 rupee notes be handed over to the State Bank.

Notably, both women claimed to come from impoverished backgrounds, with one of them, Farhat, being a widow. Despite the potential penalty of seven years for circulating counterfeit currency, the court decided on a one-year sentence for each woman, considering their circumstances. The arrest of the two women occurred on January 21, 2023, according to the prosecution.
