The Ulefone brand is known for manufacturing some of the most quirky rugged smartphones. Whatever smartphone you choose, it will be loud, regardless of whether it has an integrated earbud holder or not. The brand has now released the Ulefone Armor 17 Pro, a rugged smartphone it calls a luxury device. Here are some reasons why it’s so special.

The primary focus of rugged devices is that they are tough as nails with a variety of ingress-protection ratings that are either professional or military-grade. It is often the case that making smartphones tough means sacrificing features that modern smartphones would normally offer. The Armor 17 Pro, however, does not make this compromise as it still has a 6.58-inch LCD display with FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2408) and 120Hz refresh rate. It houses a 16MP camera system behind a water-drop notch.

There is Gorilla Glass 5 on the display, as well as IP68/69K/MIL-STD-810G certification on the body of the device. The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99, which is an energy-efficient chip based on 6 nm technology. A rugged device has a 5,380mAh battery, which is not among the highest available capacity, but it supports fast charging at 66W and wireless charging at 15W, which are uncommon features.

Ulefone’s night vision sensors are paired with a 108MP ISOCELL HM2 sensor. A virtual RAM expansion of up to 5GB is possible on the device, which has 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. AliExpress offers this configuration of the Armor 17 Pro for US$499.98.
