Our recent post, regarding the rumours of Vivo reviving the elevating camera option, which requires a hardware mechanism, to allow the camera to pop out of the top side of the device giving maximum screen space on the front. This all turnout to be true as Vivo announced its Vivo V15 PRO phone to the public with, you guessed it, an elevating front camera.

Powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 675 chip, the Vivo V15Pro features a 6.39-inch FHD+ S-AMOLED display. It has either 6- or 8GB (in select markets) of RAM and 128GB of storage (expandable via microSD), and is powered by a 3,700 mAh battery. Biometric security is being handled by a 5th generation in-display fingerprint scanner. On the software side of things, it runs on Vivo’s custom skin atop Android 9.0. As you can see from the poster of the phone, it packs in three rear cameras: 48MP, 8MP and 5MP.The main shooter is a Quad Pixel Sensor, the second is a Super Wide-Angle shooter, while the third and smallest is the depth sensor. Be ready to expect the Sony 48MP sensor in lots of Chinese phones which uses pixel binning to get better shots. And with those who aren’t really concerned with the details, the stats on paper of this sensor is going to be enough to convince them of this being a more than capable camera sensor.

The real deal is the front facing pop out camera which is going to be one risky choice by Vivo after seeing that the market is not brave enough just yet to be appealed by moving camera sensors. Now that Vivo did decide to include it as part of its phone, the camera tops out at 32MP, and thus enables a mind-blowing screen-to-body ratio of 91.64%.
