Just last month, Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi announced a True Wireless charging technology going by the name of Mi Air Charge technology. And now, Oppo has gone on to join the bandwagon as the company has its own wireless air charging tech. It has also actually announced a new partnership with both Automakers as well as Chipmakers.

Oppo showcased how the wireless air charge technology works on devices via the aid of a demo video. In the video, it can be seen that the device which is being used happens to be the Oppo X 2021 rollable smartphone. Much like Xiaomi, Oppo’s tech also seems to be based on true wireless charging as the device continues to charge even after lifting it from the charging mat just a few centimeters above.

It explained that the Wireless Air Charging tech goes can in fact go up to 7.5W of charging power. As far as the distance goes : Oppo goes on to claim that a user can take the device up to 10cm distance from the charging mar for it to continue charging.

Compared to the tech Xiaomi has adopted – with the aid of which there are sent millimeter waves via a tower inside a room, this solution by Oppo goes in fact seem to be a tad lesser in range. In any case though, Oppo does add that the company makes use of magnetic resonance as a solution for ubiquitous problems that are presented with the case of wireless charging.

Apart from this though, Oppo has also of course gone on to announce a Global partnership with Automakers as well as Chipmakers so as to expand the VOOC Flash charging technology arena. Via the aid of the project named as ‘The Flas initiative,’ Oppo is going to license companies to use its charging tech on their respective devices.
