In the opening match of the Super 12 stages of the T20 World Cup 2022, New Zealand win by 89 runs over Australia to win their first match at the Sydney Cricket Ground in World Cup 2022.

Finn Allen and Devon Conway, New Zealand’s openers, each scored 42 runs off just 16 balls, before their team scored 200 runs off just 58 balls

After a great bowling performance by Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner, who both claimed three wickets, the Aaron Finch-led team was bundled out for 111 runs by their opponents as a result of a wonderful bowling performance.

England managed to win the second encounter of the day by five wickets against Afghanistan and on the basis of their net run rate, England has taken the second spot in Group A after a brilliant performance. Meanwhile, New Zealand has taken the top spot with an excellent net run rate led by Kane Williamson.

In the group stages, all teams will have five matches against the teams from either Group A or Group B, with the top two teams from both Groups A and B advancing to the semi-final stages. Every team will play at least one game against teams from their respective groups during the group stages.
