One of the world’s leading display maker in LG has gone on to team up with Eyesafe – a company which prides itself as a leader in low blue light solutions for consumer electronics in order to launch a new TV display. The display – which of course is said to be the world’s first Eyesafe certified television display will indeed be on display at CES 2021. The display will be featured on a 65-inch OLED TV which would of course break cover at CES.
The display panel is said to have been designed so as to conform to Eyesafe standard for low emissions of blue light as well as optimal color performance. Indeed the display was at the receiving end of a third-party certification from Germany’s TUV Rheinland – hence confirming that it is indeed safe for the eyes. LG display projects that the new Eyesafe panel will be used on TVs which are shipped this year.

LG further proceeded on to suggest that the new panel is coming at a time in particular when there happen to be data from all across the globe which shows that consumers actually are spending more and more time in front of TVs as well as other screens in laptops, smartphones, and others as well. Of course the COVD-19 pandemic was also instrumental with regards to this.
In the US for example, it has been claimed that the average users’ screen time is in excess of 13 hours a day. The Eyesafe display standard happens to be the world’s leading set of health-based requirements for the consumer electronics industry. The standard was actually developed with assistance from more than 250 engineers and other medical staff so as to analyze clinical health and safety research on the impact of exposure to high-energy blue light.
For now though, LG hasn’t exactly indicted as to how much this particular display would cost. It is also unclear for now whether the technology deployed on the panel would have any effect on the display performance but it isn’t likely to.
