Xiaomi, a mobile phone manufacturer, has recently released an official statement on an incident in which an eight-year-old girl named Adithyashree lost her life due to an explosion of a mobile phone. The incident took place in Thiruvilwamala in Thrissur, Kerala, India, at around 10:30 pm on April 24. The phone in question is said to be a Redmi Note 5 Pro, which forensic experts claim was not charging at the time of the accident.
Instead, the device was apparently overheating, which resulted in the explosion, proving to be fatal for the young girl. The forensic team has presented their initial findings to the local police, and collected evidence from the site for a more in-depth examination. The preliminary results suggest that the phone’s overheating caused the explosion, which caused severe facial injuries to Adithyashree, as well as the severing of her right-hand fingers and a broken palm.

According to Ashok Kumar, the deceased child’s father, his daughter and grandmother were present in the house when the event took place. The grandmother reportedly informed the police that the child was playing a game on her phone while lying under a blanket, and she heard a loud explosion upon returning from the kitchen with food. The explosion may have occurred while the girl was watching videos on her phone for an extended period, according to some reports.
Adithyashree was a third-grade student at Christ New Life School in Thiruvilwamala. Her death has caused widespread grief and shock throughout the local community. Ashok Kumar, a Block Panchayat member, has requested a thorough investigation into the tragedy.
The local authorities are actively looking into the case and attempting to determine the cause of the mobile phone malfunction. A comprehensive forensic examination of the device and the collection of debris will most likely provide critical insights into the events that led to the loss of the young girl’s life in Thiruvilwamala. As of now, Xiaomi has not issued an official statement on the matter.
