Xiaomi MI MIX 2 will take Bezellessness to a whole different level

Just some time has passed and the word Bezelless has been thrown around quite around, with many companies trying to achieve this – and also, to a certain extent have gone quite far with this – just look at the Galaxy s8, for instance. So, what now? What is the next step that we will see in the world of baselessness? Well, the answer to this question might well and truly be the Xiaomi MI MIX 2.

The original Mi MIX was the harbinger of the age of bezel-less devices, so it’s only fitting that its successor will almost completely shave off the chin still found on the likes of the Galaxy S8, LG G6, and even the Essential Phone. In a concept video shared by its returning designer, French designer Philippe Starck, there’s barely an outline of bezel on the top three sides with a bottom bezel that looks about half as wide as that found on the Galaxy S8.

Concept videos are not always quite trustworthy, but when a concept video comes from an actual designer of the product, you really know that there perhaps is some magic going on, maybe concept just might turn out to be the reality, and this seems to be the case here, as well.

We know pretty well that the Xiaomi MI MIX 2 will arrive later this year, and when it does, looking anything like the video mentioned above (which you can easily watch online), then the Android world and the mobile phone industry as a whole is in for a ride!

You may be wondering where the front camera is, and if this is the case, take a close look at the video and you’ll see it hiding in the bottom right of the bottom bezel, bizarrely in the same spot as with the last Mi MIX. Regardless, at least it’s still present and bodes very well for anyone not a particular fan of the camera ‘indent’ in phones like the Essential Phone or upcoming iPhone. Don’t ask us what newfangled solution Xiaomi might have come up with for the earpiece this time around (last time it was baaa add).
