Xiaomi has made a habit of launching phones whose concepts are really out of this world and the company has also seen patenting weird designs. Thr company achieved the former with the aid of the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha and the latter with the aid of a number of different patents. For example, we recently saw a smartphone design that made its way with the design of a detachable camera layout. And today, yet another patent has made its way online and this time around – it’s yet again the wrap around display.

Of course Xiaomi is not new to patenting smartphone designs that make their way with a surround display. The latest patent, which was indeed applied by the Chinese company and also approved by WIPO’s Hague International Design system, also actually has one. Indeed LetsGoDigital took upon itself to unearth this particular patent as it goes on to say that the design is reminiscent of an older patent.

If you might be able to recall : one of Xiaomi’s patent making way with a surround display and also a pop-up camera at the top was subject to being published recently. The latest one does seem to have similar schematics, however, the difference here is that the device makes way with the feature of a notch. This refers to the fact that the design does not actually have any mechanical parts, but features with a wide notch in the front so as to accommodate selfie shooters and sensors

At the bottom though, everything starting from the speaker, to the primary microphone, 3.5mm headphone jack, Type-C port placement is the same. At the top though is of course missing the pop-up and also the power key and the secondary mic are placed at the left instead of the right. The display, which happens to wrap around the device, makes its way with a notch – much similar to what we have on the recent iPhones.
