Zigazoo, a new short-video sharing app that targets Gen Z, is gaining popularity for its safe and non-toxic environment. The platform, similar to TikTok, is aimed at users aged 13 and above, with a separate kids-focused app for Generation Alpha. The app, which launched on March 25, is invite-only and features a video thread-style platform without an option for commenting under video posts. Instead, users can respond to videos with a short video of their own, reducing negative trolling on the platform. Zigazoo also includes many safety features such as private accounts, human-in-the-loop moderation, and an algorithm that promotes positivity.

Unlike Zigazoo Kids, the new app does not require parental consent or supervision, but it will use auto-moderation software. The app will feature searchable music, trending sounds, and a feature called ‘vibe’ videos, where users can create videos that others can respond to. A select group of creators, including the cast of the Netflix show “That ’90s Show” and popular TikTok creators like Jack Wright, Alana Clements, and Ava Kolker, will be featured on the app. Zigazoo will also have entertainment channels with a variety of content.
Co-founder Zak Ringelstein believes that social media needs a more critical eye and that there should be a place where people can go and feel good about themselves. He hopes that Zigazoo will contribute to a better and less toxic social media environment, and he is excited about the app’s launch.
