17 Dead, Scores Injured in Pakistan Floods Triggered by Heavy Rainfall

Seventeen people have died and numerous others have been injured following severe weather that triggered flooding and landslides across several regions. The extreme conditions have hampered rescue operations and caused significant damage to infrastructure.

In Sindh, heavy rainfall has led to flooding in Jamshoro, Mirpurkhas, and Nowshero Feroze, submerging homes and displacing livestock. Dadu city experienced a 10-hour deluge that flooded streets and caused power outages.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, roof collapses and lightning strikes have resulted in fatalities. Balochistan has been hit particularly hard, with ongoing rains causing major flooding, impacting rivers, and leading to the collapse of protective dams in Sibi. This has inundated five villages.

The Kashmir region is also affected, with rising water levels blocking roads and complicating travel. In Upper Chitral, a glacier burst has caused severe flooding, destroying a bridge and damaging homes.

Emergency shelters have been established, and rescue operations are in progress. The Frontier Corps North is assisting with evacuations and remains on high alert due to forecasts of additional rainfall.
