China-based smartphone maker in Vivo continues its rather innovative journey as the brand has just recently gone on to patent a smartphone that will feature with an extendable display design.
And hence, it seems that it’s actually possible that the future of smartphones might not be foldables after all and they might be sliding as reports surfacing now have gone on to claim and give glances at a patent which happened to have been filed by Vivo at the World Intellectual Property Organization back in May of this year. The patent was subject to being published on the 2nd of December and goes on to include images of a sliding concept.

The drawings derived from the patent show that the phone will feature with an extendable display which will then extend from right to left and also end up providing the user with additional screen real estate. The Vivo extendable phone goes on to expand from the right spine and also clips back when it is not in use. The phone happens to be equipped with a motor that when triggered automatically, would bring out the screen. The screen might end up being manually expandable with the help of either a touch or a physical trigger, while some tasks such as accessing the rear camera might trigger this response automatically as a triple camera module can indeed be observed on the left hand side of the phone which appears when the screen is extended.
The speaker grill can be observed to be on the top, while the USB Type-C port is on the right spine. The phone also makes way with a punch-hole cutout on the front to make way for the selfie snapper. All in all, it seems to be a really innovative device and is in line with Vivo’s mission to be as innovative as possible.
