Rumours about Mehran relaunch have been put to rest by the Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company, which has stated categorically that it has no plans to resume production of the country’s most beloved car.
Rumours about Mehran’s production being resumed have been circulated on social media platforms. Internet users expressed keen interest in the car’s relaunch.
A high-ranking official from the PSMC stated that Mehran was the best option for first-time buyers of a car. Suzuki Mehran was cheaper than other cars on the local market, and it is safer than motorbikes. The company does not plan to relaunch Mehran in India despite this.
Mehran, which was first launched in 1989 and has been heavily criticised by automotive enthusiasts for not having essential safety features. However, it has made minor improvements over the years.

Mehran, which had dominated the roads of Pakistan for over three decades, was announced by PSMC to be discontinued in 2019. Mehran was replaced by the PSMC 660cc Alto. The lowest trim model is currently available for Rs. 1.5 million people in the country.
Mehran was the first model to be introduced by PSMC in 2013. According to official data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association, FY2013-14 saw just over 118,000 cars sold in Pakistan. Of these, 29,500 were Mehran. This reflects a huge market share of 25%.
Mehran accounted for 21% market share in FY2017-18. More than 217,000 cars were sold during FY2017-18. Mehran was discontinued in FY2018-19. In FY2018-19, Mehran was discontinued. 32,000 of these cars were Mehran. This gave Mehran a 15.4% market share.
