The captain of India’s all-format team, Rohit Sharma joined an exclusive club after becoming just the fourth batsman to ever in ODI cricket to smash 250 sixes in the last few days. Sharma made the record in the course of an impressive half-century in the first ODI in which he played England.
Sharma scored five sixes to lead the way to a sensational 76-run innings in only the 58th ball as India took on the target of 111 runs with 10 wickets left and over 30 overs left.
The 35-year old joined the likes that of Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, Universe Boss, Chris Gayle, and the former Sri Lankan captain, Sanath Jayasuriya who hit at minimum 250 sixes in ODIs.
The former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, leads the pack of the highest sixes in ODIs. Afridi has scored 351 maximums in his remarkable 19-year ODI career. Shahid Afridi’s 351 ODI sixes were a just 6,892 balls within the fifty-over format.
The former West Indian opener, Chris Gayle is second on the list , with 331 sixes from ODI to his credit. Gayle faced 12,019 balls during the ODI format throughout his legendary career.

A former Sri Lankan all-rounder, Sanath Jayasuriya’s record of 270 sixes played from the fifty-over model were accumulated out of 14,725 cricket balls in his 22-year career. Sharma isn’t too far behind Jayasuriya having 250 sixes from 10,486 balls played in international cricket.
Additionally, Sharma became the second-fastest batter to score 250 sixes in the number of balls played. Sharma was able to do it in 10,485 balls . Afridi had hit the mark in just 5,108 balls in ODIs.
