In the second game of the seven-match T20I series against England at the National Stadium in Karachi, Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam scored a stunning century.
Inzamam-ul-Haq’s record for most centuries as a Pakistani captain was broken by the right-handed batter’s 110 runs off 66 balls, including 11 boundaries and five maximums.

Babar Azam scored ten centuries in just 84 innings, compared with nine centuries from the former captain in 131 innings. Azhar Ali, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Imran Khan have respectively eight, six, and five centuries.
Captain | Centuries | Innings |
Babar Azam | 10 | 131 |
Inzamam-ul-Haq | 9 | 84 |
Misbah-ul-Haq | 8 | 189 |
Imran Khan | 6 | 186 |
Azhar Ali | 5 | 40 |
It was also the first time a Pakistani had scored two hundreds in the shortest form of the game. A massive 205 run total was being chased by Pakistan against South Africa in 2021 when he scored his first century.
Pakistan’s all-format captain became Pakistan’s most successful T20 captain, surpassing the 29 victories of Champions Trophy-winning captain Sarfaraz Ahmad.
Babar Azam recaptured his form after entering review for his poor performance in the lately concluded Asia Cup 2022 where he scored only 68 runs in six innings.
