In a report released today, TrendForce said Apple will introduce Micro LED technology in consumer electronics, with the Apple Watch expected to be the first.
In a recent report, it is stated that the new Apple Watch launching in 2024 will be a major breakthrough in the introduction of Micro LEDs as a display technology. Aside from the display size being expanded to more than 2 inches once again, we can expect the brightness specifications to increase as well in order to meet the needs of outdoor sports enthusiasts and professionals.
As a result of TrendForce’s analysis, it is expected that Micro LED technology is going to be introduced in other Apple products after 2024. As a result of Apple’s pioneering application of Micro LED technology, it is expected to be applied to AR glasses, cell phones, car displays, and other devices by 2026-2030, taking advantage of Apple’s pioneering application.

According to TrendForce, one of the possible reasons why Apple has not yet entered the OLED folding cell phone market is that Micro LED technology can be flexibly matched to glass, CMOS and other rigid substrates, as well as very well to PI and other flexible substrates. It is believed that this may be a key reason why Apple has not yet entered the folding OLED field.
As a result, Micro LED is likely to become the display technology for iPhone products in the future, which could let these products be able to fold, scroll, or even extend their display in some cases, and could become another key technology for Apple to achieve product innovation and overtake competitors.
