As a result of Intel announcement of its fourth quarter and full year financial results for 2022 on the 27th, the stock price has fallen for several consecutive days, and it’s currently down nearly 10% on the day.
AMD’s stock price has, on the other hand, declined as well, but the range between the lows and highs is very small. Due to this, AMD’s market capitalization has once again dethroned Intel’s in terms of market capitalization.
There have been a number of times in the past few years when AMD’s market capitalization has exceeded the market capitalization of Intel. It should be noted that on July 29, 2022, AMD’s market capitalization was approximately $153.737 billion, while Intel’s market capitalization was approximately $148.461 billion.

During the early hours of the 27th Beijing time on April 26th, Intel announced its fourth-quarter and full-year results for 2022. As a result of a sharp decline of 32%, the fourth-quarter results did not meet the market’s expectations. There has been a decline in revenue since the beginning of 2016.
The market performance in the first quarter was pessimistic, which is in line with Intel’s guidance. During the first quarter, the company expects adjusted revenue to range between US$10.5 billion and US$11.5 billion compared with the market’s expectation of US$14 billion. It expects an adjusted gross profit margin of 39% in the first quarter, compared with the market’s expectation of 45.5%.
It is because of this that Intel’s stock price plummeted the following day before the market opened. There was even a time that it dropped to $27.05 per share, with a maximum drop of 10.10% at one point.
