Babar Azam, Pakistan’s star batsman, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing a position in the Top 5 ICC Batter rankings across all formats in the latest update.
In One Day Internationals (ODIs), Azam leads the charts with a remarkable 824 rating points, outclassing India’s Shubman Gill (801 rating points) and Virat Kohli (768 rating points), who are second and third respectively.
Meanwhile, in Test cricket, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson leads with 883 rating points, while Azam comfortably holds the fifth spot with 768 rating points.
In the T20 International (T20I) arena, Azam’s compatriot Mohammad Rizwan secures the third position with 800 rating points, while Azam himself is placed fourth with 764 rating points. India’s rising star Suryakumar Yadav tops the T20I rankings with 861 rating points.

Babar Azam has earned a reputation for his consistent performances across different formats of the game. Alongside Rizwan, he gained immense acclaim for their partnership in chasing down a target of over 150 runs without losing a wicket against India in the 2021 T20 World Cup.
One of Azam’s notable achievements was his century against New Zealand during the 2019 Cricket World Cup, which is fondly remembered by fans as it solidified his position in cricket history.
However, 2023 proved to be a challenging year for the Lahore-born batsman as he couldn’t lead his country to victory in the Cricket World Cup or the Asia Cup. Despite being relieved of his duties as the all-format captain by the previous PCB management under Zaka Ashraf, Azam remains a key player in the top order for Pakistan.
