Honor, Huawei’s subsidiary, working on smart ring following Samsung’s introduction.
Chinese electronics manufacturer Honor is delving into the realm of wearable technology with the development of its own smart ring, as revealed by CEO George Zhao in an interview with CNBC at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. This announcement comes hot on the heels of Samsung’s recent unveiling of its own smart ring offering.
The smart ring, Honor’s inaugural venture into this product category, boasts multiple sensors capable of monitoring various health metrics, including heart rate. While specifics about the product remain scarce, Zhao emphasized that it aligns with the company’s broader focus on health-oriented technology.
Following its separation from Huawei in 2020 amid U.S. sanctions, Honor has aggressively pursued the expansion of its product lineup, particularly in the premium market segment, where it aims to compete with industry giants like Apple and Samsung. Beyond smartphones, Honor has diversified its offerings to include wearables such as smartwatches, which also incorporate health monitoring features.
