FIA Probes LESCO Overbilling Complaints in Lahore

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is looking into allegations of overbilling by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO). This comes after complaints from protected consumers who claim they were charged for more than 200 electricity units they didn’t use.

Millions Potentially Affected

The FIA alleges LESCO overbilled millions of protected consumers. These inflated bills reportedly pushed them into higher billing categories, leading to a significant financial burden.

FIA Demands Answers

To investigate the extent of the problem, the FIA has requested detailed billing data and other relevant information from LESCO’s Director of Customer Services and the Director General of Information Technology (DGIT).

Overbilling a Wider Issue

This isn’t an isolated incident. Sindh’s government has also voiced strong disapproval of recent electricity price hikes and overbilling issues.

Sindh to Protest Formally

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah plans to formally protest to the federal government, highlighting the grievances of his province’s residents. Overbilling is seen as “an injustice” to the people, according to a Sindh government representative. The Chief Minister is expected to write a letter detailing concerns and demands regarding rising electricity costs and billing irregularities.
