Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, is preparing for heavy rains and thunderstorms as a new weather system moves into the country. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that rainfall will continue until Tuesday, providing some relief to the city’s residents but potentially leading to waterlogging issues.

On Monday, the temperature in Karachi was around 33°C at noon, with humidity exceeding 70%. The Met Office also predicts rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms in several other regions, including Tharparkar, Umarkot, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Mithi, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Chhor, Padidan, Mohenjodharo, Jamshoro, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu.

The PMD has issued a warning for potential downpours that could cause flash flooding in local streams and urban flooding in low-lying areas across northeast and south Punjab, Peshawar, and lower Sindh. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue in these regions until July 30.
