Lahore Declares Rain Emergency After Record-Breaking Rainfall

Lahore, Pakistan – Following an unprecedented rainfall event, Commissioner Lahore has declared a rain emergency across the provincial capital. In response, all offices and schools in Lahore have been closed to prevent further damage from the heavy rain. The Commissioner has advised the public to avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary.

Commissioner Zaid bin Maqsood visited the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) head office, where MD Ghufran Ahmed provided a comprehensive briefing on the ongoing drainage operations. The Commissioner also urged residents to keep children indoors and to exercise extreme caution during the severe weather conditions.

Earlier today, Lahore experienced more than 350 millimeters of rain in just three hours. Sardar Sarfaraz, the chief meteorologist at the Pakistan Meteorological Department, described the rains in Lahore as “torrential.”

WASA reported rainfall measurements in various areas of Lahore, highlighting the extensive impact of the downpour across the city.
