In a significant development, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has revoked the party membership of outspoken leader Sher Afzal Marwat due to repeated violations of party discipline. The decision was communicated through a notification issued by PTI’s Additional Secretary General, Firdous Shamim Naqvi.

The expulsion follows an investigation by a four-member inquiry committee into Marwat’s disciplinary breaches and controversial statements. Marwat had previously received a show-cause notice for his actions, but the committee found his response unsatisfactory.

Sher Afzal Marwat, a lawyer and politician, served as Imran Khan’s legal advisor and was a prominent member of the party’s legal team. He received his education from Government Degree College Lakki Marwat, the University of Peshawar, and Cardiff University. Marwat began his legal career as a Civil Judge before joining PTI in 2018, having been affiliated with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) previously. He ran as an independent candidate in the 2018 elections and is contesting again in 2024 from NA-41.

Marwat gained notoriety for a physical altercation with a PML-N senator on TV in September 2023, which led to his arrest. He has faced several FIRs for organizing events and making provocative social media posts.
