Vivo has launched its V40 and V40 Pro smartphones, featuring significantly larger batteries while maintaining their sleek profiles. The new devices also come with advanced camera systems and updated designs.

Design and Display:

Vivo V40 Series

The V40 and V40 Pro share identical dimensions of 164.2 x 74.9 x 7.58 millimeters and both sport a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2,800 x 1,260 pixels. The screen brightness has been notably increased, reaching a peak of 4,500 nits, a major enhancement over the previous V30 series display.

Internals and Software:
The V40 retains the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset from its predecessor, the V30. In contrast, the V40 Pro receives a significant boost with the Dimensity 9200+ processor, an upgrade from the Dimensity 8200 in earlier V Pro models. Both phones run on Android 14 with Funtouch OS 14 on top. Vivo has committed to providing OS updates for 4 years.

Cameras:

Vivo V40 Series

The V40 Pro features a triple camera setup on its rear, including a 50MP main camera with a Sony IMX921 sensor, a 50MP telephoto portrait camera with a Sony IMX816 sensor, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera.

In comparison, the V40 has a dual camera system, inspired by the Gemini constellation, consisting of a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. Both models include optical image stabilization (OIS) and an AI Aura Light Portrait feature with a ring-shaped LED flash.

Both phones are equipped with a 50MP selfie camera based on a Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor.

Battery and Pricing:
Both the V40 and V40 Pro feature 5,500 mAh batteries, the largest capacity ever in the V series. They support 80W FlashCharge fast charging technology. Vivo claims that the batteries can endure 1,600 full charge cycles while retaining at least 80% of their original capacity, significantly enhancing the phones’ longevity.

The V40 and V40 Pro come in Meteor Blue, Moonlight White, and Stellar Silver color options, with the V40 also available in Nebula Purple and Sunglow Peach colorways.

The V40 starts at $480 in India, while the V40 Pro is priced at $655
