Siddiqui has pointed to events from May 9 and claimed that Hameed had a personal stake in blocking General Asim Munir from becoming army chief. He also accused former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar of destabilizing the country to remove Nawaz Sharif from power.
According to Siddiqui, if evidence emerges showing Hameed conspired with Khan, the latter could face a trial under the Army Act. He emphasized that any potential trials would follow existing laws, without the need for new legislation.

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has alleged that Hameed is being used as an approver to move his case to military courts. Khan has condemned the charges against him as baseless and expressed concern that Hameed, who is accused of orchestrating the May 9 events, might testify against him. He has challenged authorities to substantiate Hameed’s involvement if true.
Known for his populist stance, Khan dismissed the claims linking Hameed to the attacks during protests and criticized the justice system, likening it to a “banana republic.” He accused the current government of engineering a regime change against PTI and expressed confidence in his party’s resilience despite the ongoing challenges. Khan also reiterated recent comments suggesting that General (retd) Bajwa acted out of self-interest, maintaining his belief in PTI’s strength and commitment to resolving his legal battles in court.
