The audit revealed that FAB neglected its regulatory responsibilities, effectively shifting its duties to the PTA. The report stressed that FAB has the legal authority, as outlined in the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-organization) Act, 1996, and the Radio Frequency Spectrum Regulations, 2021, to investigate and take action against spectrum interference.
The Auditor General recommended that FAB implement the directives issued during the Departmental Accounts Committee (DAC) meeting on December 21, 2023, which instructed the board to verify records with the PTA. The report also urged FAB to hold accountable those responsible for the inaction against illegal spectrum users.
