Due to the  impending cyclone in the Arabian Sea, Karachi’s administration has enforced a three-day ban on public access to beaches and coastal areas. This decision follows heavy rainfall and multiple warnings issued by the Meteorological Department. The ban, effective from today until August 31, has been imposed under Section 144 by the Commissioner of Karachi. It restricts all beach-related activities, including swimming, diving, and sightseeing, as recommended by the Deputy Commissioners of South and Kemari districts. Authorities have been directed to strictly enforce the ban, with violators facing severe penalties. In the last 24 hours, Gulshan Hadeed recorded the highest rainfall in the city at 62mm, accumulating 128mm over the past 72 hours. Other areas such as Surjani Town, Nazimabad, and Kemari also reported significant rainfall.

As the storm approaches, the city’s emergency services and disaster management teams are on high alert, ready to respond to any incidents arising from the severe weather. Residents have been advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas prone to flooding.
