Students at Punjab College in Lahore held protests demanding immediate justice following the alleged rape of a fellow student. The demonstrations, which drew participants from several other colleges, aimed to highlight the need for accountability in this case and others, as well as to address threats made by the college administration.

The protests were sparked by a shocking incident involving a first-year student who was reportedly assaulted by a security guard after being trapped in the college basement during a break. The student is currently hospitalized, and the accused has been arrested. Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Faisal Karman stated that a special investigative team has been formed to look into the matter following the emergence of unverified reports.

While police indicated that the Punjab college administration is cooperating with the investigation, students have voiced concerns that the administration is more focused on protecting the institution’s reputation than ensuring student safety and transparency. This has fueled widespread outrage within the community.

The protest underscores ongoing issues regarding campus safety and the necessity for educational institutions to handle such incidents with greater transparency and urgency. Students and their supporters are expected to continue gathering to demand justice and accountability in this critical situation.
