The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has entered the third phase of its crackdown on the illegal use of mobile phone SIM cards. In this phase, PTA will permanently block all SIMs issued in the names of deceased individuals that are not transferred by October 15.

To complete the transfer process, the ownership of these SIMs must be shifted by presenting a valid death certificate, proof of relationship with the deceased, the original SIM, and verification of the current SIM holder.

According to PTA officials, SIMs registered with expired ID cards prior to 2017 have already been deactivated, and approximately 70,000 SIMs linked to canceled or fake ID cards have been blocked so far.
