In a high-stakes encounter near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, Pakistani armed forces killed six militants and injured three others, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.

The gunfight erupted on Friday night in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan when a group of militants attempted to infiltrate the Mir Ali region. Security forces responded quickly, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire. As a result, six militants were neutralized, and three were wounded, with the remaining attackers retreating into Afghan territory.

This incident follows a similar operation on November 4, in which five militants were eliminated in South Waziristan’s Khumrang area after security forces intercepted another attempted cross-border infiltration.

ISPR emphasized the need for the Afghan interim government to take stronger measures to prevent militants from using Afghan soil to launch attacks against Pakistan.

In a separate development, authorities in Upper South Waziristan successfully reached an agreement with families affected by a tragic mortar attack in Shakai, which claimed the lives of several children. The incident has heightened concerns about civilian safety in these conflict-prone regions.

The Pakistani military remains vigilant along the Afghanistan border, actively working to curb insurgent activities and uphold regional security.
