University students in Karachi have unveiled an innovative AI-powered robot designed to enhance Pakistan’s defense capabilities. Equipped with a high-powered laser gun, the robot can destroy targets within seconds, providing a cost-effective and safer alternative to traditional military methods.

The prototype, developed by students from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Khairpur Campus, aims to reduce casualties among security forces through remote-controlled operations. This advanced system can accurately identify and target both moving and stationary objects on land or in the air.

The project was showcased at the 4th Research and Technology Showcase held at the Karachi Expo Centre, drawing significant attention and receiving praise from Sindh’s chief minister. If adopted, Pakistan could become the first Islamic nation and the fifth globally to utilize such cutting-edge technology, joining the ranks of countries like the US and South Korea.

A Breakthrough in Weapon Technology

The robot is powered by a hybrid electric system, eliminating the need for traditional ammunition by firing at the speed of light. Features such as infrared sensors and advanced cameras enhance its targeting accuracy. While the current range is six feet, developers aim to extend this capability to broader applications, including intercepting missiles in the future.

This groundbreaking innovation holds the potential to revolutionize defense systems, setting Pakistan on a path toward modern, AI-driven military solutions.
