In a tragic incident, unidentified gunmen killed seven passengers traveling to Punjab after forcibly removing them from a passenger bus in Barkhan district, late on Tuesday night.
Attack on Passenger Buses
Officials confirmed that around 40 armed men stopped multiple buses and vehicles near Rakhani, along the Barkhan-Dera Ghazi Khan Highway.
According to Barkhan Deputy Commissioner Waqar Khurshid Alam, the attackers checked passengers’ identity cards before forcibly offloading seven individuals from a coach. All of them were residents of Punjab, traveling to Lahore.

The gunmen opened fire, killing all seven victims on the spot before escaping.
Authorities Respond
The bodies of the victims were transported to the District Headquarters Hospital, while FC and Levies personnel cordoned off the area to investigate the incident.
Targeted Attacks on Punjab Residents in Balochistan
Balochistan has witnessed a series of attacks targeting people from Punjab:
- April 2024: Nine people killed near Noshki, and two Punjab-based laborers shot in Kech.
- May 2023: Seven barbers from Punjab shot dead near Gwadar.
- August 2023: 23 travelers executed after being offloaded from buses and trucks in Musakhail district.
No Claim of Responsibility
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the Barkhan attack, leaving authorities investigating the motive behind the killings.
