The Vivo X200S has been generating buzz over the past few weeks, with reports suggesting a Q2 2025 launch in China alongside the Vivo X200 Ultra. Unlike typical “S” models that offer minor improvements, leaks indicate that the X200S will introduce significant upgrades over the Vivo X200, which was released in October 2024.

Key Upgrades in Vivo X200S

1. Major Design Changes

The Vivo X200S will feature a flat OLED display with ultra-thin bezels on three sides, replacing the X200’s micro-quad-curved display. The rear panel will adopt a splicing glass design, offering a more refined look.

While the large circular camera module and triple-camera periscope setup remain, the lens ring will be redesigned to be narrower, enhancing the aesthetics. The phone will retain an IP68/IP69 rating for water and dust resistance and a metal middle frame for durability.

Additionally, the X200S will launch in Black and Silver, unlike the X200, which is available in Green, Black, Blue, White, and Titanium.

2. Flat OLED Display with 1.5K Resolution

The X200S will sport a 1.5K resolution, 120Hz flat OLED display, enhancing visual clarity and touch accuracy, making it more suitable for gaming. While the exact screen size remains unknown, it is expected to be similar to the X200.

3. Enhanced Triple-Camera Setup with Macro Capabilities

Retaining its 50MP main sensor, ultra-wide lens, and periscope telephoto sensor, the X200S will introduce macro shooting support in the periscope camera—an upgrade missing in the X200—allowing for high-clarity close-up shots.

4. Dimensity 9400 Plus Chipset for Improved Performance

The Vivo X200S will be powered by the Dimensity 9400 Plus, an overclocked version of the Dimensity 9400 found in the X200. This chipset will enhance processing speed, efficiency, gaming, and multitasking performance, making it a strong flagship contender.

5. Larger 6,000mAh+ Battery

A significant upgrade comes in the form of a single-cell 6,000mAh+ battery, compared to the 5,800mAh battery in the X200. This will offer longer screen-on times and better endurance, especially for multimedia and gaming users.

6. Wireless Charging Support

Unlike the X200, which lacks wireless charging, the X200S is expected to support 50W wireless charging. While wired charging speeds remain unconfirmed, it is expected to retain the 90W fast charging of the X200.

7. Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner

The Vivo X200S will replace the optical fingerprint scanner of the X200 with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, offering faster unlocking, improved security, and reliability even with wet or dirty fingers.

Expected Launch Timeline

The Vivo X200S is anticipated to launch in mid-April 2025 in China, alongside the Vivo X200 Ultra and a new Vivo X200 Pro Mini color variant. However, details on a global release remain uncertain.

With these seven major upgrades, the Vivo X200S emerges as a significant improvement over the standard X200, making it an exciting flagship smartphone option for tech enthusiasts.
