The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) has issued a weather advisory warning of rain, windstorms, thunderstorms, and snowfall in various parts of the country from February 25 to March 1.

Weather Forecast by Region

Punjab & Islamabad:

  • Islamabad, upper Punjab, Potohar region, and parts of central, southern, and northeastern Punjab will experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms.
  • Some areas may face hailstorms or snowfall.
  • Heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods in low-lying areas.

Balochistan:

  • Western, northwestern, and northern Balochistan will likely see rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall over hills.
  • There is a risk of flash flooding in vulnerable areas.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP):

  • Upper and western KP, including Malakand and Hazara divisions, may experience strong winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall.
  • Heavy rain in northern KP could trigger landslides and flash floods.

Gilgit-Baltistan & Azad Jammu and Kashmir:

  • These regions will see similar weather patterns, with heavy snowfall potentially disrupting transportation and daily life.

Sindh:

  • The province is expected to remain cold and dry, with no significant weather changes.

Precautionary Measures & Alerts

The National Disaster Monitoring Authority (NDMA) is actively monitoring the situation and coordinating response efforts. Authorities have issued the following advisories:

  • Travelers, especially in Murree and Galliyat, should exercise caution.
  • The public is urged to stay informed through the ‘Pak NDMA Alert App’.
